The silence of the soul is profoundly discomforting to me, just like the inquietude of this insomnia. Writing is an act that does not fit in with schedules and limits. First, it is necessary to abdicate innocence; second, relinquish purity; only then is it possible to experience the slow and indecisive pleasure of creation. The dedicated writer is like the solitary navigator who on dark nights draws an imaginary line to his destination and allows the boat to run with the winds.
